Edge Program for Grades 6-8
Mary, Mother of the Church partners with four other parishes—Blessed Sacrament, Cathedral, Holy Trinity, and Roncalli Newman Center—to provide the
Edge program for students in grades 6-8. Our aim is for students from all parishes to form groups who connect with the same teacher each time, so that a mentoring relationship is formed.
The teachers are adult, active volunteers from all five parishes.
For the 2021-2022 school year, Edge classes will be in-person in the MMOC parish hall. Please see our school year
calendar (PDF).
The coordinator of the Edge program is
Kristin Johnson
(email or
784-4994). Our MMOC Edge Catechists for 2021-2022 are Kellie Schmitz, Mary Schaub, Heather Harpenau, Christine Kainz, Karl Solverson, Susan Schock, and Lori Turner.
To enroll your child in the Edge program, please contact Therese van Oss (registration form).
When parents attend Sunday Mass, this is the primary
distinguishing mark of being a Catholic and is the cornerstone of all
religious education. The Christian formation of families, homes that
are rooted in the Catholic faith doesn't just happen, but rather takes a
comprehensive, intentional effort that includes frequent Mass attendance
and participation in the life of our faith community as well as personal
prayer and service. The Catholic Church also recognizes that the
primary responsibility for religious education of children and adults
resides within the family. MMOC works in
partnership with families to strengthen and provide well-rounded
Catholic faith formation for our members of all ages.
